Who we are (Data Controller)

We operate The BoardHub mobile and web apps to help you manage your board-game collection, wishlist, and play history.
Personal data we collect
- Account data: name, email; or an anonymous guest ID (via Firebase Auth).
- App content: your collection, wishlist, logged plays, notes, ratings, presets.
- Purchases: subscription/entitlement status and non-identifying receipt references (managed by the App Store/Google Play and synchronized by RevenueCat).
- Support: messages you send us.
- Optional media: game photos you choose to attach.
- Diagnostics (limited): crash reports, performance metrics, and basic device info to fix issues.
We do not receive your full payment card data—Apple/Google process that directly.
Why we process your data (legal bases)
- Provide the app (contract): authenticate you, sync data, show your library and stats, restore purchases.
- Improve and secure the service (legitimate interests): diagnostics, abuse prevention, troubleshooting.
- Consent-based features (consent): optional emails, importing photos, future marketing—only if you opt in. You can withdraw consent at any time.
How we use your data
- Keep your library in sync across devices.
- Power Discover recommendations and table tools.
- Manage Pro access (entitlements) and restore past purchases.
- Respond to support and improve reliability.
Third-party processors
We use trusted providers acting as our data processors:
- Google Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Crash/Analytics) — storage, sync, diagnostics.
- RevenueCat — subscription/entitlement management using Store receipts.
- BoardGameGeek (BGG) — public game metadata only; no personal data shared.
Each processor is bound by its own privacy terms and a data-processing agreement with us.
International transfers
Your data may be processed on servers outside your country (e.g., the EU, US). We rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses provided by our processors.
Retention & deletion
Your app data is kept while your account is active.
You can delete your account any time in Profile → Delete All Data or by emailing us; we’ll erase your collection, wishlist, plays, presets, and auth profile.
Backups and logs are purged within [30–90] days after deletion requests.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you can access, correct, delete, export/port, or object to certain processing. To exercise rights, email privacy@theboardhub.app. If you’re in the EEA/UK, you can also complain to your local data-protection authority.
Security
We use industry measures such as encryption in transit, restricted access, and Firestore security rules. No method is 100% secure; we’ll notify you and regulators of any data breach as required by law.
Children
The BoardHub is for users 13+. In some regions (e.g., EU), we apply 16+ unless parental consent is provided. We don’t knowingly collect data from children under these ages.

Our website may use essential cookies for sign-in and privacy-friendly analytics. Where required, we’ll ask for consent and provide controls.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page when policies change and indicate the Effective date. Major changes may be announced in-app or by email (if subscribed).
